Our Denim collection comes in all sizes and styles, however stock is extremely limited so some are destined to run out faster than others. The collection is divided into 4 general colors; Dark, Medium and Light Indigo and Black Denim. However, given their history as worn garments, vast color variations are to be expected. Likewise there will be great variations in the presence of seams, tear and wear, as this varies with each unique bag. Consequently, what your exact bag will look like, will have to come as a great surprise!
The Story behind the Tote Stories "Denim Project"!
Tote Stories founder Lisa has never thrown out a pair of jeans, unable to part with them and certain that one day, they would come to use in some way. Denim garments may be used up, but the denim fabric has the potential to live forever!
In early fall 2020, Lisa's collection was brought down from the attic, and in addition we asked friends, family and customers to donate any old, worn-out, grown-out, out-of-fashion denim jeans for our dream project. All jeans were cut free from brand markings, numbered and thoroughly measured to calculate which size and model we could make, optimizing fabric use. Filled with anticipation, we finally shipped them off to our factory in India, eager to turn them into our most longed for, unique tote bag collection.
Unfortunately things were not on our side and the shipment was confiscated by Indian customs. For 10 months we put on a seemingly impossible daily fight for our right, but our hard work paid off - the jeans were released! Our amazing factory workers put their magic into the production, taking great care salvaging all fabric ... each pair of jeans makes one tote bag and all scraps have been used for matching zip-pouches, leaving as little as possible for final recycling.
Finally back in our hands, we are needless to say so happy and proud to present our first Reused Denim Tote bag collection to you. All totes are numbered and contributors have been given the chance to buy back one of their own pair of jeans with special offer. We hope you will love them as much as us and we want to ask for your help in keeping our Denim project going. Stock is extremely limited and we want to give new life to more old jeans, so please let us know if you have any to donate and we will arrange to pick up or send you a pre-paid mailing bag.
